Ok, I have a 10-spline 205 hooked to a 465.
I know the input shaft is 10-spline.
I know the front output shaft is 10-spline.
Pardon the dumb question, but is the rear output shaft 10 spline as well?

No, I think the rear is like 32- or 32-spline...I have a 10-spline input/10-spline foront output 205 and it had a fine spline rear output...I have since swapped the front output to a 30-spine version...Mainly so I could use a front flange I had laying around...

I think all GM (and maybe ALL 205's) 205's had 32 spline rear outputs (slip or fixed yoke). The Inputs were male 27 for 350 trans, male 10 spline for early sm465's, and female 32 for 400's and later sm465 (one was short and the other long and don't know which had which, but I'm sure others do). The fronts were either 10 or 30, but can be upgraded to 32 using a ford front ouput shaft.

Ok, dumb question of the day. Do you have to machine the case to install the ford front output shaft? I know you have to machine the input shaft hole if you want to go 32 spline, but what about the front output shaft?

No the front output upgrade is a direct swap, nothing special needs to be done to the case. If I remember correctly the seal retainer from the doner case needs to be used as well.
