hey there, ive got all the gears spiders and carrier from a 28spline 10b. will they work in the newer 30 spline 10bolts? im pretty sure they will, since i have a new in box carrier and it says its for 28/30 spline. ??

The 10 bolt housings are the same. So as long as you use a 28 spline carrier, side gears, spiders and your 28 spline shafts you should be fine. I took the 28s out of my 10 bolt and replaced it all with 30 spline stuff.

weird, the new carrier that i have in the box, says on the outside that wills for 28/30 spline 10b's????

When I put the 30spline carrier in my truck I found out that the carrier bearings are larger than the 28 splines.

It has been a few years but I thought I just swapped side gears and spiders then the 30 spline shafts fit in the 28 spline carrier/housing.

My understanding was that you could not put 30-spline side gears into a 28-spline carrier (though they fit) because the area that the shafts slide into the carrier were not big enough for the larger 30-spline shafts to slide in to.........hence the need for bigger carrier bearings. If you had a 30-spline carrier than I would guess it could be converted to 28-spline.

If you are swapping out entire carrier assemblies then it doesn't matter as long as you have the right carrier bearings, and obviously the correct shafts.

Your right. I had to hog out the inside with the lathe by about .050" or so to get the larger shaft through. Like I said it has been a few years. ( about 8 I think)
