Wow. Hope that never happens to my 10b with 35's. I don't have the money to do an axle swap yet! :D

Pretty sweet carnage.

well..... that seals the deal, im buying the 12b axles from my boss/buddy as soon as i have the pennies saved up. sweet jebus.

anyone know if 10b axles will fit under a jeep or something?

From what I understand by what people on here say, 12 bolts are a waste of money and time. If you're gonna do the swap, go with the full floater 14bolt and the d60 if you've got the funds.

I plan on using a 8lug d44 on mine, since I don't have that kind of money, but if I come across a good deal on one, I'll grab the d60.

and therein my friend lies the problem. The only reason im even concidering the swap, is that its both axles, complete with four rims and four 33x12.50 tires, and 3.73 gears. all that for 400 bucks. hell, i could sell the tires for more than that, and then sell my axles if anyone actually wants 6 lug 10 bolts with 3.08 gears. so its kinda just cuz of the situation. I was under the impression that 12b axles were way stronger than 10b axles. is that not the case?

do you guys know if all 10 bolt chevy carriers fit 10 bolts............ even the 10 bolt car carriers?

no. cars had either the 7.5/7.625 in 10 bolts, or the 8.5in 10 bolt. I believe all trucks (except maybe some small S10 trucks) had the 8.5in 10 bolt. but, all 7.5/7.625 carriers interchange, and all 8.5 carriers interchange.... dont go gettin me started on the 9 bolt 7.75in carrier found in some cars.....well ok, just IROC's from 87-89 :)

From what I hear there is hardly a difference in strength between 10 bolts and 12 bolts. But if you're gonna get it all for that price I don't blame you for taking it.

WINNER! thanks i'll be hunting one tommorrow

yeah, the guy is a huge blazer head, he's got three of em, and a industrial property with a **** ton of parts trucks, frames, axles and all that jazz. i think the 12 bolts actually came off a truck he did the D60/14b swap on. and he just wants to get rid of them. he's also selling me the 4in lift kit for 200 bucks. Now if stuff would just stop breaking i might be able to save up the 600 to take it off his hands lol.

I paid 150 bucks for a 14FF out of the junk yard. You can get them even cheaper too. Rims and tires are easy to find used but cheap aswell. For now just run another 10 bolt or D44 up front. I would look for an 8 lug D44 for the front. D60's are as we all know not cheap and like finding a needle in a hay stack. You can find 8 lud D44's fairly easy and there I feel stronger then a 10 bolt. Some say there not but whatever, that my openion. There's more aftermarket stuff to beef up a D44 too.

For the same 400 bucks i would get atleast a 14FF and find some good used rims and tires. If you have any left over, save up a bit more and get the D44. Just my .02 cents.

What about the new 8.6" 10-bolts? That's what a friend of mine has in his '07 Silverado.

just to be safe though, i would call randy ring and pinion, or drivetrain direct, or a gm parts counter to be sure. I was a gm tech for a while, and im just going by what i remember, but id hate to tell you what i thought was the truth, and wind up being wrong.
