i have an 85 k5 with factory 10 bolt, 3.08 and i found a newer 14bolt 6 lug with 3.73 for heavy half ton truck. how hard and what all do i need to put that reaend in my k5?

Cut off the spring perches, weld on in the correct spot, then buy a conversion u-joint for the drive shaft.

Or just install it. I didnthave to cut nuttin when I did mine. But that and the 6" lift atributed to my Vibration at 80mph so that might be the way to go lol. Have fun, Upgrades are fun

What kind of "engineering" did you do, lol? The spacing is off by like 4 inches:doah:

u r sayin to cut the spring perches off the rearend then move them in or out to line up with my current leafs? and will i need to buy new ones or just be careful cutting mine?

Id just throw a 3/4 ton 8 lug 14bff in... Just bolt it in... Have to shorten the drive line...

Then you swap out everything in the front to make it a 3/4 ton 8 lug...

And yes, cut the perches and move them...

You can be careful when cutting the perches off and re-use them... But, it's pretty cheap to buy new perches online...
