It seems that for as little 4xing I do, I am going through axle u-joints rather fast. I put on about 25K miles over the last 20 months since I replaced this u-joint but it was fine before the last time I used it on a trail. I bought a Spice joint for the longer life and it died before the junk one on the other hub!

It still has grease in it. I have yet to get into water. and I always loose a cap!!! Is this a sign? Am I missing something??

Comments, questions and rude remarks welcome! Just help me fix this.

Snap rings are in their groove.

I guess I didn't actually say it, but these are the joints in the hub / knuckle.

are you reusing the same shafts? i wouldn't be surprised if after a failure your ears are deformed. i know when i blew a ujoint to pieces up front i didn't have a choice in reusing the shafts :haha:

OK your sig says 10 bolts. What size tires are you running? I agree that maybe something happenned to the shaft when the first u-joint failed. So take close look. Aftermarket hardenned shafts arent that expensive.

Agreed, if you are simply spitting the caps out then most likely the shaft yolks are wallowed out.

U-joint problem - Update 2-13

I replaced the offending ujoint and found something. Granted I was using a ball joint / u- joint press, I turned the arbor BY HAND:eek1:!!! Is it just me or does that seem a little loose?
