Hello everyone,
This has to be the badest website. I need help i just bought a '90 Blazer for 800 bucks the rear end has a bunch of teeth broken on it, my brother gave me a 12 bolt out of an '81 1/2 ton truck.( i know i need 3/4 tons) but im gonna drive it for a bit like that til i can afford some bigger diffs. But the u- joint on the '90 drive shaft doesn't fit the '81 12 bolt ? Can anyone tell me what conversion u-joint i need?

I have a 90 Blazer here, I just wnet through this. Adding a 12 bolt out of a '79.

The Stock 90 Blazer has a S44 end on the driveshaft, it's internal snap ring. My 12 bolt has a 1310 yoke on it.

I used this U-joint, it's a Spicer number but any parts store should be able to cross reference it.

This page should help you confirm what you need, it has a sketch and all the dimensions and stuff for a bastard U-joint that is Internal snap ring on one side and outside snap ring on the other. (which is most likely what you need)

I'll have to store that info away, because I noticed my '85 Sububan K10 has a 12 bolt rear axle stuffed in it--betcha it has the same u-joint dilema!..

It must be a somewhat popular conversion joint, because the local place here had one on the shelf...

I used to sell quite a few Neapco conversion U-joints,probably the same one that we're speaking of here.(2-3130 I think??)--it allowed you to swap a TH400 drivesaft with the internal snap rings and larger cups & cross width,to a rear end with a yoke set up for the smaller "outside clip" u-joints common on TH350's and manual trannys--a lot of customers upgraded to a TH400 and didn't want the hassle of having a custom driveshaft made or have to buy a new rear axle yoke..

There was also another number that fit fords that had two different cup sizes and an offset cross,it was wider one way than the other,it had all outside clips..it allowed you to do much the same on Fords when installing a heavier duty axle or tranny ..

Thanks

Thanks for all the info everyone has gave me. Went down to Summit Racing yesterday and found exactly what i needed s44-1310 .
