11.88 Comp. Ratio

i have heard of people at higher altitude running higher comp ratios due the cylinder preasure not being so high but i think your better off going like everyone else says and staying around 10:1 or 10.5:1 max.
i have a street car with a stroked small block and aluminum heads, 10.2:1 compression and i run it on pump gas but i dont think i would go any higher for fear of burning something up.

e85 has an octane rating of 106 and can support up to 12 to 1, edelbrock makes an e85 carb a few other places modify and sell modified carb and makemycare85.com has a kit for fuel injectected rigs to make them flex fuel.

i found a solution. its called 4by4bygod!

Ok i'll bite. What is the solution?

FYI: You can raise the octane of pump preiminum gas by adding tolulene. It is safe to use in any gas engine. It is what the oil companies use to raise octane in gas. It is fairly cheap if you buy it in bulk.
Toulene Mixture % for 92 preimum gas:
10%...94.2 Octane
20%...96.4 Octane
30%...98.6 Octane

You can run a 12:1 engine no problem on 98 octane gas

Oops. I guess i should have checked your links. I like that GN site they have a lot of good info there.

He means the solution is our ACES IV gasoline catalyst.

No need for toluene AVgas, or race gas..he'll get an increase in octane ( 87 to 97, or 92 to 102, depending on what you pour us into) and we'll keep the fuel system clean, stabilize the fuel, and provde an upper cylinder lubricant.. we'll also negate the effects of the ethanol in the fuel, lower the emissions, and maybe he'll use less fuel in the process.. For the guys running real high compression, we have a different formula that can make up to 120 octane fuel from of 93 octane pump gas.

guys can play junior chemist if they want, but if you desire a pour and go solution, ( one ounce in six gallons of gas ) we're it.
