So i've recently built a mangler of a bumper to put a winch in. i've narrowed my winch choices down to a 12, 000 winch or a 10,000.
now the 10 is fully capable of submerging in water and has i wireless remote, the 12 doesn't. sooooo.....would a 10,000 pound winch do the job for my 85' blazer.

also my steering has recently headed south. hence the 35's and rocks and mud and stuff. is it possible to put 1 ton or 3/4 ton steering on my half ton blazer or is that possible with out changing alot of things?

A 10k pound winch will be plenty but depending on what you find and pricing you may end up with a 12K pound winch anyways unless you're buying a new winch.

There is no difference in steering between 1/2 - 3/4 - 1 ton. There are some systems that are hydro boost but other than that everything is the same.

go to your local Sam's Club, they are selling winches right now for 400 and that includes the "bat wing" mount that goes in the receiver, several feet of welding cable with quick disconnects, and remote control, my dad just bought one......

My recommendation... always go with as big of a winch as your pocket book and truck will hold.

But, something to keep in mind is if you are going to run it in the mud at all.

What you need in the rocks and what you need in the mud are quite different.

That mud creates a LOT of suction. 12k if you mud it.
