a customer is going to sell one of his sami's to me for $400.00 this summer when i have money again. anyway i have the 14ff and 44 for JR and i was wondering if the 12/10 would be too wide to work?

I know a bunch of guys that did that.
It's not too wide, it's like putting an S10 body on the blaze frame it gives you a wide stance but a narrow body that is away from harms way.

thanks bro. i think it would be fun to wheel.:Di should be able to keep the stock t case and stuff right?the engine prolly won't have the nuts to turn 36's with the 373 gears i have in the GM axles though.

i see a few of them guys on the trails running ten bolts. just the tires stick way the heck out. im running fullsized 10 bolts on my 93 s10 and the inside of the tire is about equal with the outside of the fender.

tell me your idea's balzer..it will be summer before i get it.i have wanted one since 86.:Di'm thinkin sb and sm 465 with what ever t case.headers going through the front fenders.like riding a quad.but it has a seat for a passenger.

well my idea is a bit unliked by most people.

I would start with a GM 2.8 v6 and either a 2wd 5 speed or a 2wd 200r4 auto. (the x-case is divorced) the rest of th drive train left stock with exception of a low gear set for the x-case and upgraded u-joints and lockers in the axles.

spring over lift some body armor(bumpers sliders ect.) and 34" skinny super swamper LTB tires and a winch.

Thats pretty much it.

Now because most people would ask why the hell I would go with a 2.8 and not a 4.3.

The stock 4 banger is about 65HP

Stock TBI 2.8 is about 120-140hp depending on year.

stock 4.3 is 200+ hp

2.8 is a 60 degree engine and would fit easier than a 90 degree 4.3. This would also make maintainance easier such as changing spark plugs ect.
the 2.8 is twice the HP of the stock 4 cyl but not so much more that everything else needs to be upgraded like axles transfer case ect. 2.8 with alum heads is super light. The other thing is 2.8's are everywhere and CHEAP cuz nobody wants them.

The idea is lots more power than stock but not so much its just going to tear up the rest of the drivetrain. keeps it lighter, also good on drivetrain strenth. and easier to work on. and most importantly cheap. I still think this would be even cheaper than the common 1600 4 banger swap.

By the way I have a special place in my heart for the tintop versions I dont know why but I do.

i thiunk shoehorning in a 350 would be the chit.it would have plenty of power and do the job. i need to go to sleep. i'm fuked up.:Dtalk to you tommorow.:p:

Peoiple have done the 350, but I agree with Balzer about the V6, I would probably go with a 3.8 because I have it, but if I were to start from scratch I would get the original aluminum 3.8l V8 the one Rover bought out and used in their Range Rover.:D
Or I would get a 4 banger diesel from a toyota or isuzu truck

If you want tbi on a 2.8, then your stuck with running cast iron heads (gen1).

I sold the mini spool I ended up not needing to a guy who did just this . Light enough that the 12 will live a pretty good life if you keep the motor sane and increase transfercase gearing instead .

um no my 91 s10 had a 2.8 with alum heads and tbi.

No, it didn't... trust me;)

The only gen1 aluminum heads (and blocks) were sold in VERY limited numbers by GM Performance parts and discontinued long ago. Aluminum heads were only used on the gen2 and up style 60*V6.
