I have a guy offering to sell me a 10 bolt front with a 12 bolt 6 lug rear. I've never heard of a 12 bolt 6 lug rear for an 87. He says the bearing caps on the 12 are marked 87 and both were from a 4 wheel drive. If i remember right 1970-81 chevy pu came with 12 bolt 30 spline 6 lugs. What do you guys think about me getting it to fit my 87 megadutynonturbo diesel blazer.

Im open to options.

He might have a 14 b 6 lug which if true is worth more than a 12 bolt 6 lug.
And by the way 79-80 was the transitionning years no 81 had a 12b that I know of.

maybe you got lucky and the guy selling doesn't know ho to count. i believe the 6 lug 14 bolt swaps just as easily correct? it might be a little wider axle as i believe it came in the 3rd gen stuff.

Better be Cheap .... I built and swapped a 12B into my 89 cause that's what I had layin' around. It's only marginally stronger than a 10B, but works fine in a mild/moderate application. I'd vote the weak link would be the GovLoc. I believe Watson ran a 12B for a bit when the Green Machine was young.

Mine is Yukon 3:73, Auburn Pro, Moser 1340H.

My 81 came with a 10b front and a 12b rear

As I understand it 80 was the last year for the d44 and 81 was the wirst for the 10b in the front. The 10b rear started in 82.
