I have my truck apart in my garage ready to install all new parts in the rear 12-bolt. Turns out the drivers side axle is really galled up where the bearing rides. I know its a 30 spline axle but I don't know the length and am unsure how I am supposed to measure it.

I am thinking this is the axle I need but hate to order it and pay for overniight shipping and it be the wrong one.

You know they make "repair bearings", right?

They just move the bearing inward or outward to get around the bad section. Probably cheaper than a new axle.

I have seen those repair bearings . there junk .

way to many I have seen don't fit correctly or still leak .

It's been a long time since I used one, and it worked back then, but that was probably before they were Chinese. :(

Yes, I contemplated using a "repair" bearing but feel its just a band aid. I might look into a speedy sleeve first. I didn't really think the new axle was that much moolah, as I just want to get it fixed and fixed right.
