12 bolt axle rebuild question for 82 k5

I bought a set of 1/2 ton axles (Dana 44 and 12 bolt rear) to rebuild to replace the current 12 bolt rear and 10 bolt front with 2.73 gears. I just got done tearing the new 12 bolt down to bare axle housing, I noticed under the main cap there is some light damage on the surface(pictured below) is this anything to worry about? If so is there anything that can be done to fix it?

Kinda looks like someone dinged it with a punch to keep the race from turning (also see dark area above dings). If so, that could be a problem.

I’m no axle builder so hopefully others will chime in. I’m not sure I’d trust it.

How did the race look? I suspect it’s new so you won’t see any signs of foul play.

Sand any high spots out, the bearing will sit flush when torqued
