I'm getting ready to re-gear my axles and I also bought Superior axles for a little more strenght and they claim they can handle 35's with a resonable right foot. I wanted to know if C-clip eliminators are worth the money or not. I know they keep the axle in if it breaks but I've been running a 12 bolt with the stock axles for 6 years with a detroit locker, 35's and a well built 350 without any problems. I will also be installing 4:88 gears. Would the eliminator work with my detroit as is or would it require modification? What's the best brand to get if I did buy them? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks

Eliminators don't work very well in 4x4 trucks. They aren't designed for the side loads that these vehicles see when off road. I would say use the axles and not worry about the eliminators.

C clip eliminators are for drag strip use. As lectric 80 said. Not real good for 4x4s. Besides they are illegal on the street. Non DOT approved.
If you want to get c clip eliminator. Get a 14 bolt FF

I wouldn't bother. They would keep the tire and wheel from spitting out right away if you broke a shaft, but not like you can really just keep going and then cruise home without replacing the shaft.

As said above, c-clip eliminators are designed for drag cars so the tire and wheel won't get flung into the crowd if a shaft breaks while you coast to a stop.

That's what I thought. I figured that would be one of the things I would take with me as a spare part when I went on trips far from home. I had to much invested by already having the detroit to go buy a 14FF right now. I plan on going with bigger axles on the next project I'm trying to get, 73 K5.
