i am trying to change the gear oil in the diff (12 bolt) but i cannot get the drain vave off .... im almost to the point of stripping it anyone have any ideas how to get it off

I had one do that ( the fill ) , an "inny" ( square recess for 3/8 extension ) , I weled a bolt to it , and that broke off , but the heat must of helped as I grabbed the weld with pliers and off it came .

There is no "drain valve" on a differential. There is a square drive fill plug on the passenger side of the diff though if that's what you're talking about. In order to drain the fluid from the diff you must remove the diff cover.

On my rear 10b, I wound up using a set of vise-grips to get a good clamp on the fill plug in order to get it out. The hole for the socket extension was too rusted and filled with crud to be in any way usable.
