12 Bolt fluid Capacity

Can't tell you what capacity is off the top of my head, but for rear axle, you fill from the front side of the diff, on the passenger side, using a 3/8" ratchet with extension to pull the plug. Assuming a standard pinion angle, on flat ground you fill it until it starts to leak out of the hole.

According to other posts, 2.25 qts for the 12 bolt.

Same thing , just fill it until it comes back out the fill hole . The more the merrier . I never measure , I just dump in until it takes no more :thumb:

Axles lube themselves by the gears carrying oil to built in channels or passages it uses to feed everything that needs it ( bearings in tubes and pinion , as well as the gears ) Axles don't have pumps . You want enough to submerge the ring gear and come up to the bearing level , as well as able to get down the tubes .

Fronts are sealed off just past the carrier bearings with seals in the tubes , so fronts hold less .
