I going to four link the rear of my tube buggy, used to be a 1980 k10,not much chevy left, already spent money on the yukon axles, bought my 38'' swampers, been wheeling it for a while,no problems yet with the rear, would you spend the money to four link a 12 bolt, theres no weight in the back ,just 20 gallon fuel cell, radiator, spare, battery, just wanna move forward with it to the next level, thanks for any of your opinions

I wouldn't worry about going four link with half ton stuff. If/when you decide to upgrade....better stuff will bolt right in with the correct brackets on the axles. If you've got the stuff already, then go for it. How much do the tabs for the axles cost, a couple bucks. The geometry will be the same regardless of the axle. I wouldn't expect it to live forever though.

i already blew 2 of them with 35 inch tires.they dont hold up.i was on my third one and it was starting to get loose as well.upgraded to 14 bolt and havent had a problem.if you still want a 6 bolt pattern, you can always go 14 bolt semifloat rear out of a burban.stronger than the 12 bolt and will hold up well with 38's

is there a certain year sub,are all six lugs a 14 bolt in the sub, should i look for a 3/4 ton,

I would use what I have if I am trying to save money but for a worry free long term buggy, I would only do a full floater, doesn't matter if it's 1/2 ton, just has to be a full floater.
I had a full float 12bolt, now sold but point is was stronger than a regular 12 bolt and IF the shafts were to break, I could still roll it in front wheel drive.

full floater 12 bolt, what did they come in,do they have the small bolts in the center of the axle like a ff 14 bolt,

FWIW, I just lost my "built" 12-bolt on 37's. It had Moser axles, Detroit carrier, Mark Williams billet cap, & T/A girdle cover. I have been through three 1/2 ton axles in the last three years. Hindsight is 20/20, but I should have stopped after the stock 10 bolt gov bomb blew up :doah:
Going Friday morning to pick up my FF 14.

WARN kit, it was a retrofit.
It was more suited for jeeps though, or buggies.
It does have a straight no neckdown 30 spline shaft with D60 hubs, so it's as strong as D60 except the 12b pinion is the weak link, it will be the first thing that breaks.

Removing weight is a GOOD thing . And I can tell you , in a buggy situation where the vehicle is real light , with good driving skills , a 10 or 12 bolt lives fine .

39's with dual transfercases , beat on on "real" hardcore trails , been 3 years on this 3.73 12 bolt

will 15'' wheels fit over the sf14bolt drums,i just put brand new 38'' swampers on these steel wheels,i found two semi 14 bolts here for 250 each,i think i will keep running this 12 bolt until it junks out,i welded the spiders three years ago,no problems yet, thanks for the info

yes, at least if you use the 11" drums.

the 14sf also came with 13" and I don't know if they will fit over those.

both these 14 bolts are out of 88 model trucks, were getting snow here in cheyenne this weekend ,so i dont think i will go measure them right now, theres some 15 '' wheels there ,i'll see if they will slide over, you know if the springperches are the same
