I just bought a 76 3/4 ton pickup with a 4 speed transmission and a 400 small block with 411 gears. I am going to swap everything over to my k5. What will I run into on swapping a 12bolt to a 14bolt? Is it just pretty much a easy swap?

Should be a real easy swap, if your K5 is a 4 speed there is a decent chance it even has the right (1350) u-joint to match up with the 14 bolt.

The truck has the sm465 in it. My k5 has a th350 in it now. I know I am going to have to do all the clutch pedal stuff and get the drive shaft out of the truck shortened or have a new one made. My main thing was the spring perches and the shock mounts.

Short of the driveshaft being shortened, its a bolt in deal. 3/4 tons have the same distance between spring perches as a 1/2 ton or K5.

Thanks. That was what I thought. I will just be glad when it warms up a bit so I can get started on it. I wish I had a shop. I hate working on stuff in the cold weather. It makes it easier to bust knuckles.

Wait a min... You are in GA and are worried about working out in the cold?? Move to OHIO.. It can suck bad..

I had to change the oil in one of my trucks on sunday.. It was about 15 degrees and windy. Lets just say it sucked laying in my gravel driveway with 2 inches of snow all the way around the truck.
