12 bolt vs. 14bsf

doesn't anyone make a 8-to-6 lug spacer/conversion? save the $ from having to buy new wheels etc. I dunno, for me, not breaking my rear end is worth more than $100. I rarely get to go wheeling and if I **** up a trip with something as silly as a rear axle shaft I'd be highly annoyed. lol!

They do make spacers, but I dont know how strong they are. They wont really work on the FF because the wheels wont fit over the hubs, but on a SF that might be an option, or get 6 lug 4340 shafts, which arent too expensive, and do a disk brake conversion while im telling you how to spend your money. ;)

Now it makes sense. I studied that other post trying to figure out WTH you were trying to convey.

jek, they do make adapters. I can't find the site right now, but IIRC they run about $200. That would save the cost of 8-lug outers for the front. But as mentioned you have to machine the hubs on the 14bFF and grind out the center hole of the wheels to get them to fit. B_to_C used to run an adapter on his FF. It's not like you're guaranteed to break if you run a 12bolt on the trail.

just an FYI you will break a stock 1/2ton u-joint before you breake the 14bltsf

lol, I know this.

In the meantime I have no intentions of upgrading my 12 bolt til It's shot.
Although with 325 hp on tap, a 4 speed and 35's...I might be looking for that 14b sooner than I intended.:doah:

fine, I give... the ff14b sucks, 1/2 ton or death!!!!!!

;)

I'm not saying that either, but I also don't believe in the converse either, "If you're not running 1-ton, stay home."

I'll never debate the battle of strength between any 14b and a 12b. I just don't support the idea that the conversion to 14bff is necessarily super cheap.:deal:

I know it seems like I'm picking on you, I'm not. I'm picking on the idea. Nothing personal. :thumb: I fully understand and appreciate your agrument for running 14bFF. I have one sitting in the yard at the shop. If my 12bolt ever breaks in the future, that 14bFF is going in. :D

the "cheapness" of the conversion really depends on what else you are doing. On my rig, I was already going to get a new custom driveshaft, a D60 front and new wheels... so installing a ff14b really wasn't increasing the cost. Its sort of like the 52" spring swap. Its cheap if you already have crossover etc. If you don't, there ain't nuttin cheap about it. ;)

Very true. I was thinking on 52s, til I figured out I'd have to throw in the cost of crossover.
