I can get a killer deal on a 12 inch lift kit, 12 inch spring front, 8 inch rear with 4 inch blocks out back I am running 3 inch body lift and 4 inch susp right now sittin on 38.5's. I have the truggy to get stupid in so I am thinkin the ol blaze would look good on 12 inches of lift. Is it worth all the effort
?? I am sure I would have to get new d-shafts and so on. I dont want to spend an hour lookin thru "tires on what lift" post. Can you help with a pic or opinion?

In my personal opinion I think the wheel base of a K5 is too short to look good with that much lift.

I think 8 is the max I would go for a cruizin only K5.

You are talking about 15" of lift and 38s, you could run 49s with that much lift cause it aint gonna flex any.

Dik

44's....can i ask how smokin?....i've got a line on exact same thing...1 yr old..new shocks and all steering lifted(factory type) for $750...is that a good deal?

12" lift seems way tall for just 38's! (IMO) (Heck, I'm gonna be runnin 37's on 3" lift!):wink1: But, if that's what ya want, go for it! Have ya got 1 tons under your K5? (I hope ya do!) Heck, if ya wanna run 44's later, you'll have the right lift height to fit 'em without body cutting!

G. D. that sounds terrible-- "JUST 38's" OUCH!! I think it might be too much lift but the boggers are only 1 year old and I am not lookin to buy bigger any time soon. Oh and just half ton shiz until it breaks, only twisted a rear d-shaft so far!!

:doah:I didn't mean it that way! I mean heck, they're bigger than my tires! I was just saying that they would be dwarfed by a 12" lift!

i had ~9" and 39.5's and i thought that was a pretty sweet stance. with 12" lift is definitely go with at least 42's, 38's are gona look a little funny

I dont know if I want it, who cares about that. its a killer deal and I stuff and rub so hard:D right now the xtra clearance would be saweet

Maybe someone can give you a ride in a 12" lifted truck? Years ago I got a ride in one with 42" TSL's. This K30 was properly done. I found it too tall and too stiff. I wouldn't want that much lift even if someone gave me a quality 12" lift kit for free. Nevermind steering and ujt angles. Ease of getting in and out - or lack of. I personally don't think that much lift is practical. I vote 'no'.

Yea my buddy had an 82 with 12 and 3 inch lift on 44's and it rode like a **** wagon, but like I said I rarely drive it so screw it ya know!

you should ask the guy's over on pirate4x4.com... but wait till tuesday, that's the only day questions like this are allowed...

This being ck5...

Your gonna hate the ride, price, and all the work that will go into getting 12 inch lift springs on a k5 to work daily, and not wear stuff out constantly...
Front drive line 1000 bucks
rear drive line 800 bucks
dana 60 / 14 bolt 1200
misc steering crap 600 9crossover etc)

if you want a mall cruiser... go for it...

People sell 12 inchlift springs cheap for a reason.. cause they want to get rid of them...
