I have a 79 K10 with quite a few modifications. Enough in fact that I have started to seriously consider a roll cage. It was pointed out to me that JEGS sells a 12 point cage made from .134" wall mild steel tubing with 1.625" O.D. The application is 73-87 C10s. Has anyone had any experience with this product? I'm thinking hard about buying it and I'm curious how well it will fit. Probably I'll just keep the 8 point part that goes in the cab. Prebent and prenotched tubing sounds great and I'm sure I can make small mods to accomodate minor discrepancies. Thanks for your input.

Both jegs and S&W build there own cages. I'm in the middle of installing a S&W cage..S&W's tech support has been great..Which ever kit you buy make sure to get a drawing of the cage..

That makes sense. The JEGs catalog I saw the cage in had it listed at 170, making it cheaper than the smaller cages.

I talked to a tech rep at JEGs. He was not personable at all. He told me that no variation of the cage they sell will fit in the cab of a pickup truck without removing some of the glass. I'm not sure if I believe him. I wish someone I knew had done this before.

on a cage withthat many points you would have to remove the glass to install it. the rear bars pass through the back window to the bed. and to install the front bars the right way you'll have to remove the windshield to cut the holes in the dash easier.

Damn that is a nice find! I was going to build my own but for that price I am buying one! Cool!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I understand what you are saying, but I'm at a loss for why I have to have bars poking through the front and rear of the cab. All I want is the part that goes within the cab. S&W Racing Emailed me back and said one of theirs would fit with only small mods to make it fit my seating arrangement.

then you just need the 8 of the 12 points.
the jegs guy is probably looking at a screen that says
12 point requires this and this....
he's just a monkey at a keyboard. /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

I emailed S&W about getting a picture or diagram of their cage for a K5 and they guy told me that they don't have any pics of them but he told me to check on the ColoradoK5 website cause people here had their cages and maybe I could get some pics from them /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Monkey at a Keyboard. I definately agree. However, before I spend the money, I want to be fairly sure it will fit. I'm probably gonna buy one next month.

I put a post up asking anyone for pics of the S&W and so far..no pics /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

Looks like S&W is having a $40 off sale this month
