12 tone E-brake cables don't work with 14bolt Drums

Just as the title says. I've done the swap and now I can't hok up the e-brake cables. Any tricks I'm not thinking of. They cables just aren't long enough to reach from the insert point on the back of the drum to the arm that actuates the e-brake.
 
How olds the 14 bolt?

Assuming it's your '91, you took into account (if applicable) the two e-brake styles?

Maybe the "short" (pieces clipped into the backing plates) ends of the ebrake cables changed on the later (drivers side only routing) e-brake setups, and the piece from the cab back to the adjuster is the same.
 
It is my 91 and the axle is out of a 85. There are two cables (one for each side), they are just not long enough. It makes since because the 14 bolt drums are so much bigger. I just don't know what to do to fix the problem.
 
I have an 85 14FF in my 89 blazer and i'm still using the factory cables. At first i still had drum brakes and the factory cables worked, now i'm running rear disc and still have the factory cables.
 
Are you using the cables that came with the 14FF or are you using your existing cables? I put a 14FF in my K5 and used the K5 cables up to where the axle cables connect then I used the 14FF cables back to each drum.

Each axle has its own length of e brake cable due to drum diameter.

I'm using the original suburban cables. I did figure out that there was some excess cable that I was able to pull through. I'm not sure why the springs didn't push it out but it was there. The problem now is the driver side is so loose and the passenger side is tight as can be. I've adjusted the passenger side all the way out and there is no way to tighten the driver side without tightening both. Hmmmm
