just took the cover of my 12bolt counted the ring& pinion teeth and it came out to 42 and 16, used the calc on 4lo.com and came out to 2.63..wtf..i thought the lowest numerically 12 bolts went was 3.08. by the way its a 81 k5 and i dont have the rpo code sheet.

anyone else got these or am i that stupid after skool

A few trucks came with 2.73's , my friend Bobs Blazer did . Don't run 35's .

I have never seen 2.63 before . There were high gears available , but I believe it depended on transmission and engine . thanks to Dremu for pic :D

For instance a base 4x4 was fitted with 3.73's and a 6 cyl . And there were higher gears available with 305's and 350's .

Rare but you have either 2.73's or 2.56's , and a number wasn't read right .

yep

41 divided by 16 = 2.56 at least you have a strong pinion :D is it a manual tranny? i have an 80 that came with 2.73's i swapped in 3/4 ton 8 lugs with 4.10's and it took me forever to get used to it when i was drivin it i would bump it up into neutral because it sounded like i was running in 2nd gear...it is an auto...once i put taller tires on it it seemed about right and i eventually got used to the new rpm in drive
