So after finding the bolts loose on my horrible yoke front output on my 205, I was pondering if it is time to consider a replacement. It has enough droop but I do have a BBC and 39.5s. Still I have a spare. Should I still follow the break it twice rule before I swap in my 83 205 and have a 1350 front made?
 
A 1350 joint is actually stronger than a 1410. The 1410 just allows for more of an angle

The cross/cap size is the same and it's the cap/bearing area that usually limits the torque handling. When you put the same force on the caps, then move them further apart, that's more torque (ft*lbs) through the shaft.

I found this somewhere:

Torque ratings:
Spicer 1310 = 1600 lb-ft, 1330 = 1800 lb-ft, 1350 = 2200 lb-ft, 1410 = 2800 lb-ft.

If I could just find that on the actual Spicer website, you'd be debunked.
 
If you take 400ftlbs, multiply by 6.5 and 2 you get a higher number than any of those values.
 
Those numbers may be the max operating torque - what they recommend to get good service life. The breaking torque may be much higher. But those angles sure look like max without binding. They generally recommend like 8* max for static operating angle.
 
I mostly went 1410 for single joints and a BB with a doubler.
If its overkill, I'm ok with that.
