I have a van width 14bff I am going to disk but kurts diy4x brackets on his website say except van width why? I thought everything was the same as srw but with longer tubes am I missing something?

depends on 14ff axle brakes.

if pressed on drums = normal

if newer pop off drums = no good. need diffrent brake kit.

Aren't the factory drums wider than the standard SRW axle? If they are, that'd put the factory backing plate flange further in from the spindle which would cause issue with disc conversions.

I know I've had a customer try our disc conversion on a Van axle and they were way different. I don't remember all of the details, its been a while.

Does anyone know the measurment from the end of the spindle to the front of the backing plate on a srw axle

i got a set of disk brackets on a van width axle no problems.

like i said only diffrence i have ever seen is the pop off drums with shorter spindle and press on drums long spindle that most everyone has the kits for.

edit : just checked a 3/4 ton 14ff rear in my garage. 7 1/2" give or take a 1/16"-1/8" from tip of spindle to backing plate flange . ( still had backing plate on thats why give or take spec)

Thanks I will check mine when I get home tomorrow I do know mine has the larger of the two brake sets

Ok I just measured and came up with 7 1/2 inches so that means it should work as long as I have srw hubs I will try and post a pic of my hub in a few minutes to confirm they are srw

It's easy to tell. DRW hubs have WAY more "snout" sticking out past the WMS, specifically, ~4" as opposed to ~2" on the SRW. See below.
