I notice some weeping in my drivers side rear tire, the inside of the wheel is wet and its leaking from the axle.
How hard is it to swap the seal on a 14 bolt? It has a disc brake conversion already on it.

specifically do I need a press to do it?

Pull axle shaft, remove lock nuts etc and pull hub off. Remove and replace seal and reinstall. That's it.

I would also carefully inspect the sealing surface on the axle tube. If there are any grooves or pitting that won't clean up with some scotchbrite, the new seal won't help. ORD sells some fancy seals that don't rotate on the axle tube. Or , as I did, you can sleeve it. Hopefully yours is good though.

I figured it wasnt too hard but everything i saw had drum brakes so I wanted to be sure. I wonder how I can go about getting the correct replacement part for this axle since it did not come factory on my truck...

The hub seal is a factory part. If you think about it, you're using the same hub, you just pressed the drums off of it and pressed rotors onto it. Same hub though, and therefore same seal.

Might be a good time to replace the inner bearing too. Sometimes the seal itself is really hard to get out, but it you just knock out the inner bearing with the seal, it is a lot easier. Plus, bearings are only about $10 a piece. I just did this on my DD over the weekend. Tried to just get the seal out and it was fighting me, so said screw it and just knocked out the bearing too and bought both (just make sure to not jack up the race, but not very difficult). I have drums still on my DD, but like mentioned before, it's all about the hub, not what style breaks you have
