Ive got access to a 14 bolt axle out of a 1-ton work van for dirt cheap. its a 1984, but i was wondering if van axles differ from truck axles or are they the same thing? What the difference between semi and full float, and which one would this most likely be? would I be wasting my time?

'84 should be full float. If it looks like my avatar, it is full float. Van axles are 3" wider than truck axles IIRC. I don't know if the spring perches and shock mounts will be in the right place for a direct bolt-in swap. If it is dirt cheap pick it up - many people prefer the width of the van axle so you shouldn't have a hard time re-selling it for a profit if you decide not to use it.

does a semi-float not have those 8 bolts in the center holding that....cap... on the end of the axle(where the hub is...or should be)

and another question. What if the van is 2wd, is the rear axle still the same(obviously the front is useless)?

If the van is a true 1 ton it WILL be a 14ff. The van 14ff is 3" wider than a truck axle and the perches and shock mounts will not be in the correct place for a bolt-in into your blazer.

-yes, the semi float doesn't have the axle bolted to a hub like that.

-yes, except the shock mounts may be different, but they probably wouldn't work without modification in either case (2WD or 4WD).

van spring pad spread is wider no way around it. tryed 88-up no go and tryed 73-87 1ton no go.

grab that axle even if you dont use it. sell it.
