14 bolt Detroit install

Ok, so I have a 4.56 geared 14 bolt under my truck right now. I just bought a 4.56 geared CUCV 14 bolt for a great price so I am planning on swapping the carrier for the Detroit from it to my 14. My question is, can I use the link (provided below) to install my locker and be ok? Or do I have to split my carrier and put the Detroit from the CUCV axle in mine so everything lines up right?

I ask because of the little "marks" you're suppost to make, to make sure it goes back together right. Im wondering if using a different carrier with throw everything off?

I faced the same problem sort of on mine, I just swapped the entire axle out, 4 U-bolts and i needed to bleed the brakes out anyways. That being said Im always nervous about gear installs and removals, never can get them right, so I chickened out. LOL

I would, but since this axle is from a 1-ton, id have to move the spring perch and I don't want to do that.

Iv watched several people do several installs, and actually just got off the phone about it for a friends truck with a 14, best i can say is he said its not overly difficult if you take your time, and have the endplay dial tool dealy forgot the name thing. lol

Ok. So how do I keep the Detroit from coming apart while swapping to my carrier? I don't have the bolt and wing nut they come with. Are you going to come help me?

No but you can come get mine. I have it in the glove compartment of the k30 at the shop.

Moving the perches n shock tabs would be simpler than messing with the internals. IMHO
