While this site has a lot of information, sometimes there are also many answers to the same questions. So I guess I'm asking for confirmation, or just another answer :D

I've reattached the hubs. If you know, please confirm I did this right.

1) PLace hub on spindle
2) Put flat washer in
3) Put inner spindle nut on, torque to 50ft-lbs while spinning the hub, back off then torque to 35ft-lbs.
4) Place key ring (or whatever its called... with the bendable tabs)
5) Put on outer spindle nut and torque to 65ft-lbs.
6) Bend a tab into the indent on the outer spindle nut (I was only able to fit one... which is how it was when I took it off)

Did I do this correct? Here is the end result

The next question I have is that I noticed one of the new seals I placed doesn't seem perfectly flush, when I spin the hub I can notice the seal moving in an out. It's very subtle. I took the hub off and tapped the side that I thought was protruding but its still not perfectly even. Should I go get a new seal and start over or not worry about it? The other end is perfect.

My next question concerns the "Chevette" flexible brake lines. I've seen some say they are perfect and others say they aren't long enough. Should I go with the Chevette lines, or get some braided steel lines instead?

Thank you for the help,
Gary

It looks and sounds like you did the hubs right

Not sure about the brake lines I used my old front ones that were braided steel, when I put my 56's in I needed longer ones anyway.

Don't worry about the seal not sure I even looked on mine and now they are alot easier to replace and its not the space shuttle so you should be fine.

black, orange, blue...... mmmkay. :wink1:

looks like you did it right..... the inner and outer nut situation is news to me :dunno: when i pulled the hubs off the junkyard 14bff there was just one spindle nut. maybe they were already taken by someone else, i still gotta pull my D70 hubs.

Well I graduated from the University of Florida, so I always have to incorporate orange and blue somehow... its a sickness. I thought painting the whole axle blue would be a bit much :D

awwwww im just givin ya a hard time, sure as hell looks better than it did with drums and a layer of rust :D

no one makes customized rear diff covers with university shout outs???? either crests, mascots, colors, or letters or something :wink1:

I ended up getting the Chevette lines today at Autozone. The problem now is that they have hard lines with the fittings already installed at 20" and 30". But I need about 25" probably. So either I do some creative bending to make them fit or I make my own flares (and I don't think I'm up to that).

I just had an epiphany... I could just off-center the "T-connection" and use one 30" and one 20" line???
