Well I think i have found a good deal on a 14ff. A co worker told me today that he has a 14ff in his yard in an early 90s chevy. it has 4.56s and supposedly has no issues. He said if i give him 100$ and my 10bolt, i could have the 14ff, and he'd even help me get it out. I hadnt planned on getting a 14ff since i have a 14sf i was going to use, but now i think ive changed my mind.

Ive got most of my info together on what i need to do to swap everything over except 1 thing...the driveshaft. My current blazer has about 8 1/2 inches of lift in the rear via aal, block and shackle flip. Since i had planned on useing the 14sf, all i was going to do was get that adapter precision ujoint, but now im not sure what to do since im going the 14ff route...do i have to shorten my current shaft? can i even use it with the 14ff?

What's the state of your current d-shaft? Are you running the stock one or a CV? I know on mine, I was running a CV with the 10 bolt and when I put in the 14b, I used perches and plates from WFO to move the axle back an inch. Reused the CV and it actually centered the axle in the wheel well.

Again, would need to know what shaft you have now, but I can say with confidence that you won't have to shorten a stock driveshaft if you're already running 8" of lift. I can also say with confidence, that if you don't already have one, a CV shaft would be a wise investment at this point.

And yes. you can get adapter joints for your current shaft to the 14b.

sorry i forgot to mention that. Yes i do have a cv shaft. and i was hoping i could can use it. so all i need is an adapter ujoint then?

If its a oneton you have to move perches and shock mounts. 3/4 you will be good and should bolt in. I believe the pinion snout is only a inch difference between the 1/2 ton and one ton yolk. I didn't have to change anything on mine. Stock shaft worked with conversion joint. I want to put a 1350 yolk on the driveshaft though. The conversion joint only lasted about 10000 miles. On my second one now so we ll see. I haven't put but a few hundred miles on this one.if its a one ton see if he ll let you trade him for the front end too. Lol

make sure it's coming from a square body, otherwise you might have more work than it's worth

yes, the driveshaft will collapse some
if you don't want to shorten your DS, think about moving the axle back if you haven't already
