14 Bolt Front

78Buford has sold many '78-'79 Ford HP60's including 3 just a year or so ago. They were used, but complete and in good shape, and one even had a Detroit locker in it. I don't remember exactly but he got less than $1k even for the one with the Detroit and that was putting them on eBay, Craigs list, and several off-road bulletin boards.

Are you sure they where HP King Ping D60's? Maybe his are newer ball joint ones or HP 8 lug 44's. Was he willing to ship them or just local pick up? Because all of this makes a big difference. I'm as thrifty as they come when looking for parts and when I was looking for mine 4-5 years ago I couldn't find one in Montana or Wyoming for under $1500, and that was only two of them. Most of the ones out here are still under trucks. Mine came from Missouri, my parents found it for me. I did buy a ball joint one for $1200 out here, sold it for $1300 shipped to Louisiana, cost me around $150 to ship it. Figured out I wanted the closer spring pads for my sas. I hate to say it but if he isn't getting $1k something is up. Here is the newest one for sale on pirate,

79 ford F350 Front stock HP dana 60 never cut or touched complete, but is missing a few bolts. I was told it was from a running truck. 69.25" WMS to WMS

$1,500 firm CASH ONLY No I will NOT take less I will keep it, if I don't get what I want.

All I'm trying to say is price wise building a 78-79 HP
king pin 60, and building one of these is pretty comparable.

edit: Now that companies are coming out with fabricated housings, like ruff stuff, it is bringing the price down a little. Since I could almost do a ruff stuff housing for what I paid for mine.

100% sure they were '78-'79 HP D60's......he off-road rig is a '78 F-250 "Snofighter" that came stock with this axle. He is constantly on the look out for anything along these lines that a buck can be made, axles, cars, Jeeps, trailers, etc... and I've lost track of how many various D60's he sold. I know of one time he stumbled upon a junkyard that had recently received an entire fleet of mid-late 80's Dodge trucks from some company and they all had D60's. I think he bought 5 of them for maybe a couple hundred dollars each. The key is finding somebody who doesn't know what they have or simply needs the cash.

Of course D60's on Pirate4x4 are advertised for top dollar because people on that site know exactly what they are.
