So got my ring and pinion installed on my 14 bolt full float not comes tricky part!
Yes I have 14 bolt gear setup tech article by villa vista printed out under truck.

Says loosen right side adjusting nut and tighten the left side adjusting nut until the ring rear contacts the pinion without binding. This is zero back lash

I tried this and can tell they contact cause one rotates other no binding but how can I be sure I got it right for sure besides adjusting right side and then checking back lash?

Gotta run my work for my dial indicator and by Acura for some parts for side job.

So can anyone lead me on right track today even if we got to do it over phone?

Pics to show I really do have it installed and ready to setup!

Hold the pinion gear. Then try to rotate the ring gear. Well just try to slowly jiggle the ring gear. If there is no movement of the ring gear before it moves the pinion this is zero lash.

Also there has to be zero movement side to side of the ring gear. Both bearings must have no play.

Will do some checking when kids go down for nap. Been crazy and got to watch kids today and tomorrow while trying to get gears done and working on a timing belt water pump and seals on a 99 to tonight pushing my chevelle out of garage to do side job.

Workslow or bs work so gotta make some side $$$

Thanks for help today figuring things out Eric!!!! I might not be the smartest but I knew I was on right track and something was not right.

Like Wade said I will be a expert in the end :dunno: not sure about that but will know alot about them.

Also going to order clam shell tool tomorrow to make life easier and not rush it.
