14 Bolt Help, Quick

All right just got home, pulled the 14 bolt out of the back of the Cherokee. I need to I.D. The gear ratio.

This is stamped on the ring 3 GM 464917 12 45 3 81

Is there the gear ratio anywhere in here? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif This is my first 14 bolt so would like to know if I need to start counting teeth yet.

Also there was a metal shaving in it. Seemed to be like a shim of some sort. it was stuck to the bottom in a pile of sludge. Don't think the rear was ever PM'd.

i usually just count teeth, but it looks like there could be 45 on the ring gear,and 12 on the pinion, giving you 3.75...or ~3.73

Thanks, I see it now. I just couldn't figure out which numbers it was but now I see. Done it no probelm a few weeks ago with a Dana 60 but this one stumped me. I am a simple minded person and there were simply too many numbers.

Yep, should be 45 teeth on the ring gear and 12 on the pinion.

The casting date should be March of 1981 (3 81)
