Evening all,

As my project continues to take up space in the garage,I purchased the "premium" hub seals, bearings, etc from Off Road Design. I go to put my hubs on, and I can not get it seated all the way on the spindle. I have split some 2x4's trying to "work them on".
Or what I think all the way on is, there is a metal ring on the end of the spindle toward the third member, it looks like this seal is suppose to be against it. I have about 5/16 of inch to go, everything is spinning smoothly. I'm I wrong in thinking this? I will get pictures of it tomorrow, as I slapped the tires on so I could push it back into the garage.

if its the 2 peice self spinning seal then thay are tight. need force to seat the seal on the hub as it no longer spins on the axle spindle. it spins in its self.

if there the same style as the newer trucks use then i have to hit the hub/rotor/drum unit with 4lb dead blow hammer to pop the hub n seal over the spindle seal area.

and if you have a paper thin ring on the seal area of the spindle thats a speedi sleave. needs to be removed .

David,

Sorry we didn't get back to you, crazy day. Stephen will give you a call back tomorrow (feel free to call us first).

I haven't had a chance to install those yet, though I need to! I had a leaky hub seal and speedi sleeved it, still leaks sometimes. As soon as I started with ORD I saw that they kept a few of those around for their own rigs and couldn't believe that not everyone uses them!

The best I can give you is I remember that they aren't too bad to put on (usually) and that getting them back off is usually tougher.

Chris,

It's no big deal about the call back, please do not take it that way. I'm just happy knowing, that they are a witch to get on. I will keep at it, and you are right about getting them off... that is why I ordered another set they do not come off easy at all.

Dheater, any resolution to this?
I have a similar issue with one hub.
It stopped probably ~1/4" before the actual 'seat' on the spindle.
Did a dead blow solve your problem?
Or was there some misalignment in the bearings preventing it from seating?

NO,

I was about an 1/8" from totally getting them were the regular seals rode. I used the 4lb dead blow to drive them on, to were it just would not go any further.
I tried to finish them off, by tightening down the bearings did not work so I accepted that this is hopefully right.
