I can't remember, but in 2003 or so, didn't they change from Corporate 14 bolts to the AAM's that are currently in 3/4 and 1 ton trucks? I could be getting my years wrong though. If it is an AAM, it's a whole different animal, just the pumpkin looks similar
) would have one of those AAM's in it, no doubt. For $100 I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat. Where I'm at, used drum brake 14bff's run $3-500+ and the newer used ones with disc brakes run $6-900+ unless you find someone who doesn't know what they or just want it gone in a hurry.
axles are $250 at pick and pull with plenty of 14 bolts to choose from.
AAM started the new 11.5 inch ring gear axles in 2001 with the new HDs, but only in the 1 tons and 3/4 tons with a diesel. My '05 2500HD with a 6.0 had the 10.5 inch ring gear FF 14 with discs. How I wanted to put that thing under my Suburban at the time, but the wife would have killed me for raping her new truck.
All that happened is that GM spun off their corporate axle division to a stand alone company with the name of AAM. Yes, technically an older axle is a "Corporate" and the newer is "AAM" but it is still the same basic axle.
$250 before tax for the narrower drum brake versions (like what our style trucks came with) or closer to $400 for the newer style the OP is asking about at their "premier store" in Rancho but those are rare and get snatched up as soon as they hit the yard. Nothing wrong with the older style ones though so don't get me wrong, I've just never liked how much narrower they are than the fronts and by the time you add a disc break conversion (like most of us do at some point) you're already at or above what the newer axles cost for something not as good IMO. The dismantlers that get most of the newer trucks by us want $6-900 for the newer axles (depending on yard and mileage) so if the OP can get a newer axle for only $100 that's awesome.
I've seen several disk brake 14 bolts at the PnP and yes 250 plus tax so $270 OTD. And WFO sells them for $280 if you don't want to pull one.
No doubt $100 is a deal but I won't pay a dime over $300 for any stock 14 bolt.
