I am in need of a locker for my 14 bff rear. It was welded at one time but I recently decided to remove the spider ball and replace it with new spider gears to get me by without eating my tires. this weeked I realized that traction sucks now and Im ready to get a locker.

my question is has anybody ever used a lock right in a 14b? I know a lot of people that use them in half tons and like them but would they be as good as a detroit? the reason I ask is because a lock right is nearly half the price of a detroit but I dont want to sacrifice strength. I searched to see if anyone had installed one but cant find the results Im looking for.

and another question, a local mechanic that I hang out with sometimes has installed a few lockrights in jeeps and he told me that they work more like a limited slip and send power to the wheel with traction but I always thought they were actual lockers like a detroit. am I correct? sorry for the long post and thanks for the help.

i thought about this a little as well, after about a minute of searching on here. most people dont really like them in the rear axle. save your pennies and get the detroit. it will take me till next winter to get one but i dont want to just get a LR. i want a detroit.
