Should factory 1983 K5 cables work with 14BFF? I plugged it all in and it looks good, except that I can't loosen it up enough. I have the threaded part all the way out and it's still pulling a bit - the shoes won't move in all the way. I don't see any other places where I can slacken it up. If I need to I'm sure I can extend that threaded part with stuff from Ace, but I want to make sure I'm thinking about this right.

Nobody has a parking brake? Really all I want to know is if anyone who swapped in a 14-bolt with drums was able to use the existing cables or if you had to jury-rig the setup.

I was thinking they were interchangeble, but I'm not much help. I swapped to discs which required jury-rigging of its own.

I just set mine up. I hooked it up in the factory eyelet. it was too tight at first but then I relived tension in the cable by putting the little cable guide rod hook thing in a different location.

Seems to work fine meow.

Cool. Mine didn't seem that tight, but I couldn't get the shoes to go in all the way. Finally just disconnected at the threaded rod and everything was happy. Seems like it just needs a few more inches. I think I'll try extending the threaded thing with a piece of all-thread and see how that works. Relocating one of those guide things is a good idea too.

What he said.
Mine were tight too till I moved the cable thing. Worked fine, then went to Disc's and open another can of worms.
