I need to replace my worn out 1979 14 bolt rear. Will a rear from a 1997 1 ton fit with minor mods? If not what is the latest year I should look for?

Not sure if the mods are minor. I don't believe you can run 15's on the new rears look for an 87 or older, or just rebuild the one you have /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Careful, disks or drums? ABS or not? There will probably be some spring perch cutting/welding needed. I don't know for sure though.

Its drum, no abs in the rear, it will work, youll have to move the perches inward, move the shock mounts, and take off the bumpstop pads.
