I have a 73 chevy k10 truck with dana44 front and 12bolt rear. I want to put in a 14bolt rear and maybe dana60 front. What gear ratio should I use with 35" tires? What type of locker should I get for front and rear? Price is of course the main concern.

This is mostly a huntin truck with some off-road use.

I am going to run 4.10s in my setup because that is what is in them. But I think 4.56 would prolly be better. As for lockers, Detroit front and rear.

Doesn't 4:10 come in most 14bolt and Dana 60? What Detroit the soft locker or the true-trac?

4.56 came in the cucv axles. 5.13 is the largest that you can currently fit into a 14FF housing. I think I read where someone is making a 5.38 set for 14FF but it does not gain you very much. As far as lockers I think Detroit makes the same locker for the Dana 60 as they do for the 14FF, just the Dana 60 locker changes carriers where as the 14FF only replaces the spiders. If I am off base here someone step in and clarify please.

Well if price is a concern, and you are only running 35's I would not even bother for a Dana 60. You don't "need" one at this point. Find a 3/4 ton truck and take both axles..pop the covers first to check for 4.10's good ratio for 35's. Locker for a 14B is pretty limited Detroit, or ARB (rumor??) or if street use isn't a big deal you could always weld up the spiders. Good luck :D

are the 3/4 ton 10b's any different than the half ton or were you talking about 12b's?

I would vote 4.56 but it depends on your tranny...

Only difference between 3/4 and 1/2 ton 10 bolt front is the hubs and rotors everything else is the same. And there never was a 12 bolt front only rear.
