I'd use some Scotch-Brite on the rusty teeth and get the worst of that off. With the way the pinion teeth wipe across the ring teeth the abrasive parts are going to cause wear sooner than later.
Other than that it doesn't look too bad. No chipped teeth that I can see...and no schrapnel in the bottom.
Any plans of shaving the "trail plow" off the underside?
After the last two runs - I'm definetly going to "crop" it. One rock almost did it for me in Sutro Canyon. We had to keep running at it to get over it.
It looks like a spool type differential. If it is then both wheels are essentially locked together. When you make a sharp turn, you may hear one wheel chirping because the wheel speed is different on a tight turn.
