14 Bolt Semi Floater install, haven\'t seen a guide on it.

Do I use the same UJoint as a FF and it is a 2wd rear so will I have to move shock moutns?

I got my 14bsf from an 82 2WD diesel and didn't have to move spring perches. I did however move the driver (IIRC)side shock mount becuase it hung down way too low. I just moved it up as high as the passenger side one. I don't know about the u-joint. The yoke that was on the axle was bad so I killed two birds with one stone and replaced the bad yoke with a 1350 series and got the pinion seal replaced.

I think I will replace both shock mounts, put them up higher for better ground clearance.

I took a 14SF out of my 84 Burb and installed a 14FF. I re-used the joint - it was the same size (1350 series). /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I recently installed an '84 2wd 14bsf in my '87 K5. The spring mounts are correct, the shock mounts are correct location but hang down about 1 1/4 inches too low. I just sectioned an inch out of the mounts and welded them back in. I'll try to get some pic's some day. Got a new camera and it's waaaaay smarter than me right now.

Back in the day I upgraded from my grenaded 12 bolt to a sf14. It bolted right up with nothing but a bastard joint necessary to make it work. I went through it and a D70 before I arrived at my current 14FF. I am very happy with it and would not waste my time on anything other that a portal axle or FF14.

I'm going to a 14ff, simply cause I think 3.42s aren't gonna be enough gear. Going 4.10 and 35s.
