What year did GM replace the 14FF with the 14SF in 3/4 ton single wheel trucks and suburbans? What is most common u-joint size on a 14FF, 1350? Thanks, Kevin

I believe it was somewhere in the 78-81 era when the SF's started showing up in the 3/4 tons. Nothing is exact with GM though. They had a lot of overlap in all of their changes in those years. Yeah 1350 is the 14BFF joint

Well, my 83 Suburban has a 14sf. I think they mixed them up a little back then, I've seen some with FF and some with SF.

81 was the first year of the 14bsf. the diesel and bigblock 2wd 3/4 tons got a 14bff, all the other 3/4 tons got a sf

I agree with '81, and bigblock... but my '84 C20 Burb w/diesel had a 14SF stock.

i though the 2wd diesels got the ff, but i could be wrong on that part. i know the BBC got the ff
Subs never came with a 14bff only one ton trucks did. 1/2 tons had 10 bolts, maybe 12bolts at some point in production others will know better. 3/4 ton had 14bsf.

Right?

all I know is that in 3/4 tons they switched them back and forth, some had the SF and some had the FF. just look and then you will be 100% sure.

I'm sure it was based on the GVW, just like '88+ 3/4 ton pick ups.

Ditto, a neighbor has a 94 with a FF, big block
