On another note, I had a few min and decided to have a real good look at the gears.. The spider gears have chips in them :(.. What are my options? Replace just these gears? All new gears? Take it back and get a 14FF ?

Would I be outta line renaming the thread? Think is, I budgeted about $2000 to " redo" the whole rear end, axle, springs, shackle flip etc, and was thinking this MAY be a good opportunity to do so. I think I got the shackle flip handled and what not. Never messed around with axles and gears and such.

Thanks

The inards

And the gears in question

Those are the only gears this way, top and bottoms same way.. Rear gear? I hope, when the current 35" tires wear out to run 38's ish tires.

Uhh, just get some CUCV 1 tons and be done then.

I have the 14bsf/10bolt combo with 3.42s as well. The K5 seems to be undergeared running 33s. Especially in OD. I found the same set of axles in the 8 lug bolt pattern out of a 90 Burb 3/4 ton with 4.10s to replace them.

I also have a K5 (trazer) with the CUCV 1 tons and 4.56 gears. They would work well with the 38s you are planning to get and they usually have low miles on them. You could get the 1 tons in there for less than $2000.

If I can find these axles, that would be great. I haven't seen any CUCV's at any of the junk yards tho. I will be returning the one I got.. I hope to find a rear end with 6 lug at the same wms.

As I was saying, my budget for now is strictly for the rear end, not just the axle but, springs, shackle flip, shocks etc. If I were to get lucky and find a CUCV, and could get the same $50 deal on each axle, I certianly jump on it.
