14 bolt to a 14 bolt

[ QUOTE ]
What about moving the shock mounts to the outside of the springs you know those new blue oval trucks say it will make it ride better. With the wider axle I believe there will be pleanty of room. Do you think I will notice a difference? /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif

The 14 FF rear axle is the same width as the 14 SF. The one ton drum on the FF is deeper than the drum on the SF, so there is actually even less room between the backing plate and spring. (I just took a look, there is about 1 1/2" between the spring plate ands backing plate, I can post a pic. if you need to see). You can pick up a set of 3/4 ton drums and backing plates for a 14 FF and gain about 1" to 1 1/2" (I'd have to measure the 3/4 ton brakes I have), but it's still pretty tight back there. Maybe someone can take a few measurments with a rear disc set up.
