ok,heres a good question.I welded the spiders and the cross shaft on my 14 bolt FF about this time last year, the other day,I did a quick U-turn and heard something like the liberty bell cracking.I knew what it was.but Im afraid to pull the carried because what was once welded is now an open one wheel peel wonder,I did however pull both shafts which are not broken and the splines are fine.WTH?? did I brake? Why is it still working??!! like I said Im afriad to open it up cause whatever is holding on to where it is working if I touch it,it might stop working and Im out a vehicle for work.anyone have any ideas??

btw,Where can I get any info on drivetrain directs mini spool? I need to buy one.

Did you weld it like the tech article ? If you were extremely lucky the welds broke off and dropped , perhaps they got ground up , but I would still spray it clean and then some . You may want new bearings anyway /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

I welded the 4 spiders to the cross shaft, and then welded it like the mentioned on here.I filled in the voids so how is it one wheel peel? yes I need new bearings I can hear them.
any info on the mini spool? or should a detroit be better?

Detroit or that spool , wont matter , both strong /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

you probaly broke one spider free and ripped the teeth off of it so that the one wheel does nothing but idle know, you still have drive on the other wheel because it is still welded to everything inside, sounds nut's but i've seen it happen on a welded rear before, metal was weakend by the welding or something /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif, all i know is i have definitly seen it happen

Go Detroit...you'll wonder why you ever put up with a welded diff.

I'd love a detroit but money is a factor right now,but seeing that theres another hurricane getting ready to hit florida agian I make pretty good money doing state active duty with the national guard.

but doesnt drivetrain direct make a mini spool? its not listed in there web site.
