14 Botl FF Van ?????

well he says its not a posi, which is true b/c a posi has clutches..iirc...but its not open diff, you can't see the spider gears....looks like a gov-bomb locker to me!

will it fit the truck right though? also what are the gov bomb lockers and are they bad , more details anyone? thanks

Gov-locks in 14FF's are actually a lot stronger than the weak 10/12 bolt versions. Still wouldn't be a bad idea to get an open carrier and add a detroit if you are going really large tires. I believe to make this work with the truck, the spring perches and shock mounts have to be moved, but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong. The van version should have the widest WMS, and should line up nicely with your front end, eliminating most of the weird layout of the powertrain. Your front and rear tires should be nearly the same distance apart.

yea the van 14bff is 70"wms i beleive, so it will be nearly the same width as your front end. The spring perches will not be in the correct spot for your 3/4 ton truck (pickup?) So you will need to cut em off and weld on new perches.

150 is the most I would ever pay for a 14bff rear unless it had something special in it (deep gears, locker etc.) Around here I can get em for 80 bucks

That is an open 4.10 and down carrier. You can tell by the shape of it, it is not smooth like a gov-bomb is. I personally would get it, swap discs and a detroit in it and move the perches.

The van width is 3" wider than the truck axles so as was said it is equal to your front axle on track width (within 1/2 inch total width)

If it is local I say pic it up, shipping axles almost always is a deal breaker.
