what is the price range that I can be looking to spend only 14 bolt sf which 513 gears? I found 1 locally for sale just not sure what a fair price to offer him is it has the disc brakes already on it?

14sf with disk brakes id go somewhere in the 300 to 500 range with the gearing done already.how recent was it done and did he rebuild the whole axle when it was regeared?

Looks like a FF one. With disc brakes $400-$600, I'd say. Just depends on what's been done inside too.

they got it actually has a 1985 blazer frame with 14 bolt ff and disc brakes and 10 bolt 8 lug front also has the drive shaft and 6 or 8 inch springs front and back the whole thing for 800 dollars. sure of the history all I really need is the rear and out of it I just really don't want the rest of that sitting around in my yard. It also has 513 gears fromt and rear.

Do you have a Dana 60 already, or why do you not want the front axle?

Martin

I do not have a dana 60 that was my intention of getting 1 however is t a truck and boat just as good for what I'm going to use it 4 this will not be a full blown mud truck I just don't know much about the combinations.

I am not real sure what you just tried to say in that last post. The point I was trying to make, is why not take the 10 bolt as well? If it has matching gears it seems funny not to. I would take the whole thing, strip it, haul the frame to iron and keep/use the rest of the parts.

For $800 I would take the whole setup and bolt it in. In the other thread you said you wanted to run 36-38" tires and were planing on a 383. This setup sounds like it would work well for you. With the overdrive trans, 5.13's and 38" tires should make a good combination. 6-8" lift springs should clear 38's with a little trimming and if necessary a 1-2" body lift.

Sorry for the confusion. I am going to look at it tomorrow. Being that it was a previous mud truck is their anyway to tell if the internal gears have any issues without taking off the diff covers.

I would do as he said.i saw you were sayin it was a sf in the post you made.but now say it is ff.you should get the whole setup and put the front in as well.At least til you get a d60 in there, you have a matching front and the lift you need as well.

Since it was a former mud truck you need to pull the covers and inspect the gears. If your not able to pull the covers at least grab the yolk and wiggle it, up-down-side-side-back-forth. Any movement other than rotation can mean bearing trouble. Look around the brake drums for any oil leaks.
Mud has a way of getting in everywhere and its damn near impossible to get out without pulling stuff apart. the drums need to be pulled and the brakes inspected before you install it in your truck.
