I found a local yard with the score on 14s and 60s
100 each pull it yourself

what should i do, the 14 will prolly bolt up
how bout the 60?(both rear)

I will be running 35s-37s and stockish 350 700r4 wheeling sometimes, and driving it in the winter

what about drive shaft compatibility?

Stick with a 14ff in the rear. They are easier to get parts for, and cheaper too. The only real advantage for a rear 60 is that you can go 7.17 gears and the 14ff is limited to 5.38's currently. The 60 does offer a little better ground clearance but nothing you can't shave off a 14ff to gain most of that clearance back.

thanks

:wink1:exactly the response you guys have the reputation for giving,
Ill take the 14

this yard is amazing, and no one knows about it:eek1:

I might pull some extras for later:D

If this is going into a blazer make sure the axle comes from a 3/4 ton truck so you don't have to cut and reweld perches and shock mounts. The perch spacing should be 42.5" from center to center. If the axle comes from a 2WD truck then the shocks mounts hang down about 2"-2 1/2" lower than a 4WD axle and you may need to cut and shorten them up. Don't forget you'll also need a conversion U-joint for the rear shaft.

i just picked up an 88 K-10 blazer and put a 4" lift in it. i am fairly sure the 14 bolt is coming out of a 4WD burban. what are the main concerns when it comes to upgrading the front from a 44 to a 60, as far as gear ratios, drive shaft size, u-bolt configs, etc.

Insure you have the U-bolt plates from the D-60 as they are different. You must insure your front and rear gear ratio's match as well. The u-joint on mine was the same, however I went from a 10 bolt to a 60. I'm sure someone else will chime in and let you know if a 44 is also the same. What gear ratio you should run depends on what type of driving you will be doing, as well as what size tire and what trans you are running. Give us this info so we can give you some better info and options.

Also, insure you are being honest with yourself about the type of driving you will be doing. I have seen a lot of owners that were not happy with their builds due to building for what they want to do rather than what the rig will actually be used for.

d44's, 10 bolts, and dana 60 front axles all take the same size u joint for the front driveshaft.

Stock for all fronts is the 1310 yoke. Looks tiny on a D60...

i plan to drive the truck on the road over a mountian pass in the winter, on the really burly days, and off road adventures in the summer with my buddies. the truck has a 700R4 trans and im thinking about running 35" or 37" MTRs depending if i upgrade the axles or not.

no, there are a few burbans in the yard that have 12bolt rears, the one i pulled the 14 off was a 25 sierra classic.
