Hey fellas,
My rear 14B FF keeps leaking at the outer seal on my driver's side. I've replaced the seal a couple times now, and saw that the sealing surface on the spindle is pitted pretty badly.

I tried using some emery cloth to smooth it out a bit, and tried to get the seal to ride on the smothest area possible. No luck. Is there a way to replace that machined surface? Is there some kind of repair kit I can press onto the tube and maybe use a different diameter seal?

I'm hopefully going to get the Sky Offroad disc brackets sometime soon so I'm hoping to have a solution by then.
Thanks!

If you are talking the seal on the back, IE next to the brake backing plate. I had a similar problem, and used these and so far no problems.

I'm not sure of the application, I just ordered them from ORD. I can also tell you they are a b@#$h to get the hub to go back on the spindle. So if you use these, do the disk conversion at the same time....

There is a speedi-sleeve available to repair the pitted seal surface. I'll see if I can find the part number for you.

Found it but looks like Dean beat me to it. Chicago Rawhide CR99282

For the 14BFF, it should be Chicago Rawhide part number 99282

I just used some great stuff applied to the hub before I put the seal in. Let it set for a little, then slapped it back together. No leaks yet!

Thanks guys! I've seen that seal on ORD before just never read the description, I just took for granted that it was a regular seal.
The Chicago Rawhide looks like a good place to try too! I'll keep all this in mind when I do my disc conversion. THANKS!!

Lots of options for fixing it. If my 14b was leaking, I would speedi-sleeve it. It's the best fix you can get. You can continue to use cheap seals, and the stainless surface of the sleeve won't score as easily as the steel spindle. My $.02
