I searched and could not find.
Finishing my 1 ton install and setting the pinion angle for the rear. Im running a CV rear shaft (slip yoke) and i know that the correct pinion/driveshaft angle is supposed to be 0* (which is nice because i suck at geometry). But, my buddy the mechanic told me i cant run a 14B ff over 15* degrees from horizontal or else the oil slinger wont sling oil. The rear diff is angled up at about 25* to get the shaft/pinion angle to 0*. I know i'm in the right here and that hes all dorked up but just need more input. All signs ive seen on CK5 and the other site are that this is no big deal.................is this correct or am i a retard? obligatory pic.

For a DC drive shaft you are correct. You need the yoke pointing right at the drive shaft. Your friend does have a valid point in that at that angle you will have a lack of lubrication on the pinion (although 14bff don't have oil slingers that I am aware of).

As Obijuan stated, Add some extra gear lube to keep the pinion lubed and you will be fine.

You could also drop the pinion down 2-3 degrees to help if your worried. The axle wrap will cause it to rotate up to 0 degrees while it's running.

Take the advice about the gallon of oil though. Don't keep filling until the fill plug starts leaking, otherwise that's too much and it may puke out the breather when it gets hot. I know from experience. :)

On a side note. Why run a antiwrap perch with a lift block that is shorter?Loose the block and you can lessen the angle of the DS.Then weld a fill bung in the cover high enough to get the pinion lubricated.
