Hey im some what new to the site been using yalls tech for years just signed up recently... Anyways im purchasing a 14b ff out of a 78 c30 1ton pickup im just curious is leaf perches are the same as my 82 k5 just wanna get idea of what im gonna have to do to put it in besides finding 60 front and regear on one of the two!!! Thanks for all help fellas

1/2 and 3/4 tons share the same perch width and shock positions, 1 tons are different.

You will have to move the perches and shock mounts to fit.

Edit: Welcome to the site! :thumb:

Ugh didnt wanna hear that... lol well atleast I know now and im only givin 100 for it and its been drivin within last month!!! Thanks this site has been great for my wheeling suspension wise thus far! I just got a k5 and dont even realize i owne a jeep anymore haha

Unless the gear ratio in that 14bff is exactly what u want, u may must be better off finding one from a 3/4 ton, it'll bolt right in except for the driveshaft, the brakes will be slightly narrower, but its at the very least somethin to think about.

I agree. even though your only paying a $100, changes will add up especially if you end up re-gearing. The 1 ton has different perch centers then the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. Its not a hard task but could be expensive if you have to pay someone to grind the old perches and shock mounts, then weld them back on. I had to do it to my 14bff and its a little annoying.

Thanks guys i went ahead and picked it up it was rebuilt for most part and 4.10 gears are what im lookin at running for now. Im a half ass handy welder and mechanic so ill do it myself just gotta find a 60 front before i break into it all the way! I appreciate the help

I just did the same thing a few months ago. If you are lifting the K5 think about pinion angle before you weld the new perches in place. You gotta take them off anyway so good time to think ahead.
